Leviticus opens where Exodus closes. The tabernacle has been raised, the cloud has descended, and the glory of the LORD has filled the tent. Then the LORD calls Moses out of the tent of meeting and begins to teach a redeemed people how to draw near to a holy God. Redemption was the work of Exodus. Approach is the work of Leviticus. Volume One covers the first seven chapters — the five offerings and the priestly laws that govern them: the burnt offering, the grain offering, the peace offering, the sin offering, and the trespass offering. This is the Christological floor of the whole book. Every repeated sacrifice points forward to the one offering that needs no repeating. This commentary follows the Williams Right Division method. Every verse receives the same six-part treatment. The King James text is given first, without alteration. A plain-English rendering carries the doctrine into modern phrasing. A word study opens the Hebrew and Greek behind the verse, anchored in the standard lexicons and cited by Strong's number, so the reader can verify rather than merely trust. Hidden Treasures draw out the typology, the pattern, the doctrine pressed into a single word. Cross-references link each verse to the wider witness of Scripture, because Scripture is its own best interpreter. Verses are never combined. Each one stands on its own. No critical text. No replacement theology. No softening of the Word for modern ears. The Old Testament economy of national Israel is not collapsed into the church age. The types are allowed to point forward without being forced. Read slowly. The sacrificial code rewards the reader who lingers. The animal matters. The blood matters. The order matters. Every element of every offering is gospel typology, and every line points to the body, the will, and the single offering of Jesus Christ. Part of the Williams Right Division Commentary — a verse-by-verse study of the whole Bible, built on the King James text and a database of weighted Scripture-to-Scripture cross-references. Read more
